Question: Cystic acne or something else? (Posted by: Sandi G on 2010-07-20 13:55:23) About 6 months ago I started to get what I thought was a cystic acne (just one) on the side of my chin. In about 3 weeks it was about the size of a dime. It was somewhat soft in the center but it never came to head. I used stievamycin on it religiously and about a month later it reduced about 90 % in size but now it's a hard small bump which I can feel more than see. The weird thing is, it gets super itchy sometimes. It's been 6 months since it first appeared. It's still here and on random days it's very itchy. I'm always having to scratch around. I still use Stievamycin on it every night. Could it be something else? Does cystic acne leave bumps behind?

Posted by: Michael Bartsch on 2010-07-20, 14:17:51 I had a very similar situation that turned out to be a ingrown hair. It actually was about three inches long when I removed it with a needle ( Not reccommended). See a doctor to keep from infection. Mine was about the size of a piece of unpopped corn kernal and actually started turning the skin a ugly gray shade. Good Luck!
